Tim & Faith Lightfoot, Co-founders
Academic Career Development Services
Academic Career Development Services began in 2017 as the brainchild of a serial entrepreneur and seasoned academic who desired to help those in the life sciences arrive, survive, and, most importantly, thrive in their life science careers.
With three decades on the college campus as a researcher, professor, and administrator, Tim watched doctoral, post-doc, and young academics face many challenges when navigating their careers. The interaction and questions from students regarding their career challenges lead to writing the first career development book and creating a professional development course.
After the positive response to the class and book, we opened the doors to Academic Career Development Services with the focus on services and resources that would support the efforts of young academics.
Our Mission
Our mission is two-fold. First, to help individuals learn how to arrive, survive, and thrive in their life science careers. Secondly, support those in university and college career advising, new faculty orientation, and professional organization career development efforts with tools that complement or add to their current offerings.
Our Offerings
Our resources and tools are written and created to support the life cycle of doctoral and post-doc students moving into academia and young academics through promotion, tenure, and mid-level academics moving into administration.
